How does Divorce Mediation Work?
Divorce mediation is actually pretty straightforward, in essence it is an alternative to a traditional divorce lawyer in which you could end up paying thousands of dollars, go to court, and leave your fate in the judges hands. With divorce mediation, all of this is the exact opposite; the cost is a fraction of the cost, you don't have to go to court, and the final outcome is decided by you, not a judge.
At A Fair Way Mediation, we will help you and your spouse come to a mutual agreement in the following ways:
A Calm Environment for Discussion: to reiterate, we will take out the anger and resentment (if there is), and help create a peaceful environment to discuss critical issues such as alimony, child custody, visitation, property division and debt just to name a few.
3rd Party Negotiations: As a mediator, we do not give legal advice to either party. We do not take sides but act as a 3rd party mutual negotiator to guide the discussion by keeping things on track and asking the relevant questions, while keeping negotiations on course.
Prepare FInal Paperwork:After the mutual agreement has come to an conclusion, we will put it in to writing and submit it to the courts for finalizing the divorce. The paperwork can be tricky and we will make sure it is completed fully as needed.
